Treaties on de-fences

LIMITED EDITION PRINTS

Treaties on De-Fences, is a limited edition of 51 prints created by Jorge Otero-Pailos and made available in support of his 2024 exhibition on Park Avenue, Analogue Sites. Much like the exhibition, the prints aim to raise awareness and advocate for the preservation of modernist U.S. embassies. While the art installation uses large sculptures, as a method to make these embassies visible and tangible to the general public, the prints further enact and intertwine the energy of the sculptures and the diplomatic treaties from which the sculptures derive their names.

The prints are organized by treaties, and when laid flat, the groups of prints visually come together into multi-page compositions that can be framed for display on a wall.

The prints can be purchased as an entire portfolio of 51 prints and come in an Artist Book. There are 20 books in existence. In addition, we’ve created a separate limited edition of 30 sets made available for purchase as individual prints, framed or unframed.

Treaties on De-Fences was officially released at the Winter Show Park Avenue Armory New York in 2024. All proceeds from the sale of the artist book and the prints contribute directly to developing exhibition programs to benefit the general public.

Analogue Sites by Jorge Otero-Pailos is a public sculpture exhibition on Park Avenue presented by the Sculpture Committee for the Fund for Park Avenue, NYC Parks. The sculptures are made from fragments of the security fence of the former U.S. embassy in Oslo, a Saarinen-designed landmark, preserved as art. They will be installed along Park Avenue from April to October 2024, creating a dialogue with iconic mid-century modernist landmarks and the Park Avenue Armory.

Analogue Sites by Jorge Otero-Pailos is a sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts with funding provided by the Onera Foundation, the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, the AECID, the Consulate General of Spain in New York, the New York State Council for the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and individual donors.
